In 2024, cherry blossoms in Japan's Kansai Region are expected to bloom around March 22. According to the Japan Meteorological Corporation and the Japan Weather Association (in Japanese only,) cherry blossoms in the Kansai Region are expected to bloom towards the end of March, with peak blooming periods anticipated between March 30 and April 4. Himeji Castle is a National Treasure of Japan and the first registered Unesco World Heritage site in the country. In spring, around 1,800 cherry blossom trees, including somei-yoshino, yae-zakura, and shidare-zakura varieties, hue the castle site and its surroundings in varying shades of pink.

Mount Yoshino is home to more than 200 varieties of cherry blossoms, with the shiroyama-zakura being the most prominent. Each year, from early April onwards, 30,000 sakura trees bloom gradually from the mountain's base to its summit, adorning the entire mountain in vivid shades of pink.

Nara Park is home to about a thousand adorable wild deer that have been officially designated as a National Natural Monument. You can feed the deer with special senbei crackers sold on-site, and admire the picturesque scenery of them grazing under the pink canopy of cherry blossoms in springtime.
Sakura varieties include the unique Nara yae-zakura and kokonoe-zakura, which boast double the number of petals compared to regular cherry blossoms.
