This area is a hot spring village in the vicinity of the World Heritage Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, you can take a walk along the Kumano Kodo (the ancient road to Kumano) and enjoy the historic and famous hot springs of this region. Kumano Hongu Onsen Village takes about two hours by express train from Kansai International Airport, followed by two hours by bus. In some cases, there is a hotel shuttle service from Shirahama Station.
