Features of Kurokawa Onsen

Kurokawa Onsen lies along the Tanoharu River, a tributary of the Chikugo River, where nostalgic Japanese-style inns stand side by side, creating a special atmosphere. The hot spring is a salt and hydrogen sulfide spring and is effective in treating nerve pain and rheumatism. Most of the inns have open-air baths, and travelers can choose up to three baths by purchasing a "bathing pass." The area was awarded two stars in the 2009 Michelin Green Guide Japan, a rare distinction for a hot spring resort.
