Features of Shimonoseki・Tsunoshima・Kawadana Onsen

Shimonoseki is located on the border between the main islands of Kyushu (Fukuoka Prefecture) and Honshu (Yamaguchi Prefecture). It is famous for its fugu, a delicacy of Japan, as well as other local specialties including kawara soba. Here you can find Kakushima, an island with a beautiful white sandy beach floating in an emerald green sea, and one of the most popular tourist spots in the region. The region is also home to Kawatana Onsen, a hot spring resort with a history of more than 800 years. Its clear radium spring is gentle on the skin and has a wide range of health benefits. It takes 50 minutes from Hakata Station in Fukuoka to Shimonoseki Station by Shinkansen, and 90 minutes to Kawatana Onsen Station with a transfer at Shimonoseki Station.
