Features of Other Areas in Yamaguchi

Yamaguchi Prefecture is located in the Chugoku region of Japan, at the southernmost tip of Honshu. It is known as the "Western Capital" because the feudal lords of the time built a city modeling Kyoto (the capital of Japan at the time). There are many sightseeing spots such as Akiyoshido Cave, one of the largest limestone caves in Asia, and Kakushima Island, known for its cobalt blue sea and selected as one of the best places in the world to visit before you die. It takes about 90 minutes from Tokyo by air, 2 to 3 hours from Nagoya and Osaka by Shinkansen, and about 40 minutes from Fukuoka by Shinkansen.
