Features of Yubara Onsen

Yubara Onsen is located around the Asahikawa River that flows through tha area. It is a traditional hot spring resort town lined with long-established inns, shateki (carnival shooting game) arcades, and souvenir shops first established in the Genroku era (1688–1704). Yubara Onsen is known for its Sunayu, a public open-air sand bath on the riverbank, which is free of charge 24 hours a day. Yubara Onsen was awarded the highest ranking of "Yokozuna" (grand champion) for the western Japan region on the national ranking of open-air baths. In the vicinity of Yubara Onsen is a beautiful valley, and the 110-meter high Kanba Falls, the most famous waterfall in the Chugoku region. Yubara Onsen is about 2 and a half hours by bus from Okayama Airport or Okayama Station.
