From the magical milky blue water of Tsuchiyu Onsen, the thatched-roof buildings of Ōuchi-juku, or the ever-changing scenery of Goshiki-numa, there is plenty to see in Fukushima Prefecture. The mountain pistes here are recognised by many skiers for their soft micro-fine snow. This is also the prefecture to sample Kitakata ramen - one of the Big Three ramens in Japan. Fukushima has a culture of eating ramen in the morning known as "asaraa"; you can find many ramen shops here open from seven in the morning. Stay over for a night to give this morning ramen culture a try.
