Sanuki udon - an udon with firm noodles and a strong dried sardines-flavored soup - is a Kagawa Prefecture favorite that has attracted a strong fanbase across Japan. This region also holds the Setouchi Trenniale, an event held once every 3 years and brings in many visitors to the region too. One of its locations - Naoshima - has become famous for being home to one of artist Yayoi Kusama's famous pumpkins. You can also climb the 1,368 stone steps to the rear shrine of Kotohira-gū shrine in Kagawa. The approach to this shrine has great food too - make sure to sample quirky-looking 'Kamatama' soft serve ice cream.
