Discover and learn about Ogimi, a village deeply rooted in the wisdom of its ancestors, where the essence of longevity culture, nurtured by IKIGAI, can be experienced!

What kind of food do they eat, what is their lifestyle like, and what are the things that the villagers value?

Let's explore the secrets of longevity while interacting with seniors! Are you surprised by the skills of the elderly in the gateball team competition?!

If you have time, break a sweat playing gateball. Exercise is also the key to longevity!

Cooking experience using freshly picked Ogimi Shikwasa you harvested yourself! You can also make your own souvenirs to enjoy at home!

During seasons when Shikuwasa limes aren't in harvest, other fruits and vegetables will be harvested.

Explore Shioya in Ogimi Village, where traditional culture is deeply rooted, and learn about the lives of the villagers as you walk through the village!

You can learn about traditional events, the beliefs of the villagers, and other aspects of Okinawan culture that have been passed down through generations.


Schedule

  • Reception at Shioya Community Center

    Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception desk.

  • Stroll around Shioya in Ogimi Village (about 40 minutes to 1 hour)

    With the guidance of the district chief, we will delve into the cultural, historical background, and way of life of Ogimi Village.

  • Transfer to the farm (10 minutes) → Harvest Shikuwasa limes (40 minutes) / Cooking experience & lunch (about 1hr 10 min at Shioya Community Center)

    We harvest Shikuwasa limes at the farm and use freshly picked Shikuwasa for cooking.

  • Transfer to Shioya Community Center (5 minutes) → Chat with the elderly and play gateball (approximately 60 minutes)

    At the gateball field (Shioya Fishing Port), learn about IKIGAI (life purpose) and the secrets of longevity from the elderly.

    The dispersal will take place at the gateball field (Shioya Fishing Port).

Notes

Regarding the harvest of Shikuwasa, the type varies depending on the season. From late September to early November, you can enjoy "Aogiri Shikuwasa," and from mid-November to early February, you can savor "Fruit Shikuwasa."
Watermelons and bitter gourds are harvested from February to September, and mangoes are harvested from June to September. (*Subject to change depending on the situation at that time)
