Chopsticks making experience

Enjoy making chopsticks using the lacquer techniques used for Buddhist altars in Japan, also known as small, household shrines.

  • 10:00-10:20 Uchiwa making experience

    At Yame Tesuki Washi Shiryokan, enjoy a making uchiwa experience (Japanese fan) using the Yame washi paper's techniques.
    Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception.

  • 10:20-10:30 Yame Kougeikan

    A variety of crafts that represent Yame are on display, including Buddhist altars (government-designated special traditional crafts), chochin lanterns, Kurume Gasuri (a traditional woven cloth), Yame Ishi Toro　(prefectural-designated special traditional crafts), tesuki washi paper, arrows, bamboo works, Japanese spinning tops, potteries, and woodworks.

  • 10:30-11:30 Chopsticks making experience

    At Ogata Butsudan Honten, try making chopsticks using the lacquer techniques used for Buddhist altars in Japan, which are also known as small, household shrines.
