Activity
Create a copper plate using the traditional Japanese technique of tankin (forging)!
It’s not just perfect for tableware—it's also a stunning piece for interior decoration!
Decide on a plate shape—round, oval, triangular, or square!
Experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step, making it ideal for beginners! Elementary school children (third grade and up) are welcome, making it a perfect opportunity for your child's first crafting experience!
All tools are provided on-site, so you can come without bringing anything!
This is an authentic experience with professional tools. There is no tool rental fee, so you can come empty-handed.
There are two time slots on Saturdays to choose from!
You can choose to participate at your preferred time, either 11:30am or 1:35pm.
The weekday sessions start in the evening, making it easy to join after sightseeing, school or work!
Registrations are accepted only from 6:30pm.

How to get started
1. Choose the shape and size of your plate. Options include round, oval, triangular, and more.
2. Visualize your desired final shape, then use a machine to cut the copper sheet and smooth the edges with a file.
3. Heat the copper sheet with a blowtorch to soften it, and watch the color change.
4. Once the black oxide film is removed through acid-washing and cleaning, use a concave stand and hammer to shape it into a plate.
5. Finish! Feel the joy of having created something with your own hands!
About the activity:
• Forging is a traditional metalworking technique that shapes metal through hammering. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to see a variety of metals and tools and experience the craftsmanship up close.
• The instructor is a professional craftsman with 20 years of experience, including work in France. Whether you're a beginner or more experienced, they will guide you through the forging process.
• You can take home the small plate you create on the day of the event.

• If you're running late, please contact the organizer. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you may not be able to participate.
• The activity is available to elementary school students in third grade and above, but parents/guardians must handle pick-up and drop-off. Please note that parents/guardians are not allowed to join the activity, so they will need to wait elsewhere.
