Activity

Dine in partially-private rooms in a traditional Kominka house with a large thatched roof

Visitors can experience and learn about life in ancient Japan at what was once the residence of the local village headsman, which was built in the Edo period.

Experience making rice the old-fashioned way in a traditional "Hagama" pot (wash and cook rice)

Enjoy local rice grown in Ashigara's famous "clean and delicious water" and cooked in a "kamado" traditional Japanese cooking stove.

Enjoy the "delicious charm" of the region around the hearth!

Enjoy a hot pot with plenty of fresh local produce grown in clean water. (Some of the hot pot cooking will be done at the same time)
There will also be homemade side dishes prepared by local aunties made using local produce.

Experience the four seasons in Japan's countryside

Depending on the season, you can experience the different charms of Japan's countryside (e.g. flowers, trees, insects, rice paddies, animals, agricultural products, foodstuffs, etc.)

Schedule

  • 11:00 AM Meet-up, Meet the hosts

    Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception desk. There will be self-introductions, an explanation of the experience, an explanation of the schedule, precautions, and a tour of the premises.

  • 11:10AM Hot Pot Cooking Experience

    Fill the pot with ingredients of your choice from the pre-cut ingredients.

  • 11:20AM "Kamado" Rice Making Experience

    The rice is washed and set in the "kamado" traditional Japanese cooking stove. After an explanation of how to cook the rice, the fire is lit, blown with a fire stick, and the fire is stoked.

    Enjoy a tour of the grounds and a walk around the property, including the store, rice fields, sake brewery, and more!

Notes

The Seto Yashiki is one of the largest thatched traditional Kominka houses in Kanagawa and is located in the Kanaishima area in the northern part of Kaisei Town. Visitors can experience the traditional water-based culture, lifestyle, and scenery of the area.

- The event may be canceled after the reservation is made due to inclement weather. In such cases, WAmazing Play customer support will notify your emergency contact after 3:00PM the day before the event. (Facilities may be closed due to typhoons or other extreme weather conditions)
