Activity
Enjoy a half-day stay at an ordinary home in Miyama, Kyoto, and interact with the locals
Visitors can experience daily life in rural Japan, through walking in the Satoyama, doing farm work, and enjoying meals around a traditional "irori" hearth.
Take a walk in Miyama's lush Satoyama!
Fields and rice paddies surround the property, and a short distance away is the Yura River, a stunning, pure stream that is well-known in the summer as a place to fish for Ayu (sweetfish). The river is so clear that you can see to the bottom!
Activities vary by season
Depending on the time of year, it is also possible to try harvesting vegetables in the fields and picking wild plants.
Make lunch with local ingredients from Miyama!
Lunch menu includes a choice of sushi rolls, inari sushi, and handmade udon noodles. (Please select at the time of reservation).
After lunch, sit on the porch and unwind.
English interpretation is available as an option. Recommended for those who enjoy interacting with locals.
Schedule
Reception at Kyoto Tamba Kogen Quasi-National Park Visitor Center. Please present the My Page reservation screen at reception.
The staff will explain how to get to the house where the activity will take place.
Driving to the home for a country living experience
The activity location is about a 15-minute drive from the Visitor Center. Upon arrival, we will explain about the Miyama area and life in Miyama.
Go for a walk in the village.
Enjoy Miyama Town, where the authentic Japanese landscape remains untouched.
Lunchtime
After taking a walk, we will prepare & cook lunch using ingredients from Miyama.
