Make a letter box to learn how to put together Kiri Tansu (paulownia wood chests), a traditional craft in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture.

Kasukabe paulownia wood chests were sold in high-end department stores in Japan. Our craftsmen, who are certified traditional craftsmen, will personally instruct you.

Your skills determines the final outcome

Every step of the process, from drilling holes with cones to hammering in wooden nails, determines the final product, which is why each maker's unique style is so captivating.

After completion, they can be used in a variety of ways, such as inserting photographs or letters.

Made of 100% pure Japanese paulownia wood, the letter box is luxurious and will be a perfect interior decoration that will fit in anyplace.

    When you enter through the gate, the office is on your right. Please present the reservation screen on My Page at reception. Place your belongings and move to your work space.

  • Start of the activity

    After moving to the work space, everything from the activity to packaging will be done in the work space.

    Check the materials. Next, glue is applied and the paulownia wood is combined.

  • Activity 2

    Drill a hole with a cone, hammer in a wooden nail, and cut the protruding wooden nail with a saw.

  • Activity 3, End of the activity

    After filing and cleaning, the letter box is complete. The activity ends after packing it.

[About Directions]
- Taking a bus is very convenient
From Kasukabe Station East Exit, board a bus bound for Toyono Kogyo Danchi→get off at "Kominkan-mae"→1 minute walk
*The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Please allow extra time for possible delays due to road conditions.

[Caution]
- For groups of 6 or more people, you can reserve and specify the start time on a private basis. Please contact us if you would like a time other than those listed.
- Those with long nails may have difficulty working. Please keep your nails short and trimmed.
- Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to make one set.
- Please note that time required may vary slightly from 150 minutes depending on the number of participants.
