Stay in a comfortable hotel that has renovated a machiya (traditional Japanese building) that is over 200 years old. Experience the soothing aroma of Japanese herbs and tea in the self löyly sauna, as well as the carefully selected bedding from a long-established bedding store. Relax your body and mind in this tranquil setting, prioritizing relaxation.

Nagahama's Attraction (1): Port town on Lake Biwa

The largest lake in Japan, Lake Biwa, has long been known as a key trading hub and a treasure trove of natural blessings. You can also enjoy a cruise to the uninhabited island of Chikubu Island, a breathtaking spot selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Sunset Spots," within walking distance.

Nagahama's Attraction (2): Nostalgic castle town

Nagahama's value as a merchant city is underscored by its long-standing shops and well-preserved 200-year-old machiya houses. Its retro townscape sets it apart. Matcha (powdered green tea) and wagashi (Japanese confectionery) are now familiar and easy to enjoy, but in the past, they were all condensed into a culture of entertaining important guests, from the spirit of Zen to the deliciousness of matcha itself, to the spirit of enjoying the space, setting, and seasons. You will experience this not as a standard tourist attraction, but as the hospitality of a young master.

The entire Nagahama area is the stomping ground of the young master and proprietress. They will show you special areas like izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) that the locals only know about.

    Meet on-site at Wano Retreat Hitoiki and go through check-in procedures and guidance. Please present the reservation screen on My Page at the time of reception.

  • 2:30 PM Experience (1) (Tea ceremony, Jonamagashi (Japanese sweets) making experience) *Time required: 90 minutes

    The young master of a long-established Japanese confectionary shop will give a lecture on how to make seasonal Jonamagashi (Japanese sweets). You can enjoy the freshly made sweets with matcha (green tea).

  • Free time → Dinner (Start time can be selected between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM)

    Toast at an izakaya (Japanese-style pub) loved by the locals!

  • [Day 2] Breakfast (Start time can be selected between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM)

  • 10:00 AM Experience (2) (Guided walking tour by the young master) *This tour can be conducted on the first day) → Disband around 12:00 PM

    A hidden city walk organized by the young master. We'll lead you from the main street to the back streets. After the tour, you can enjoy roaming about the city or stay an extra night!
