The experience takes place in Kinashi Town, Takamatsu City, Kagawa, one of Japan's leading bonsai-producing areas, where bonsai are grown from seed to maturity.
Enjoy a guided tour of bonsai fields and gardens.

Offers a variety of traditional cultural experiences to choose from

Kagawa Prefecture is not only famous for bonsai but also as a place that preserves Japan's traditional culture.
You can choose one activity from bonsai, lacquerware, pottery, kintsugi (the art of repairing broken pottery with gold, silver, or lacquer), Japanese sweets making, or Marugame fan crafting.

Interact with artisans who carry on Japanese traditional culture

Don't settle for a typical cultural experience. Immerse yourself in a special moment where you can connect with skilled Japanese artisans and feel their dedication. Enjoy a multi-sensory journey through Kagawa’s traditional culture while admiring the bonsai garden.

Schedule

  • Meet-Up & Reception

    Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception desk. Our staff will be waiting for you at the entrance.

  • Take a stroll through the bonsai village and enjoy a guided tour of the bonsai fields (about 15 minutes)

    We will guide you to the bonsai fields, which are about a 5-minute walk away.

  • Return to Nakanishi Chinshoen and enjoy a bonsai viewing and guided tour within the garden (about 30 minutes)

    We will explain the viewing methods, and you will also have the opportunity to see bonsai that are several hundred years old.

  • Head to TAKUMIKUMO VILLAGE

    We will introduce the works of Kagawa's master artisans.

  • Activity (90 minutes)

    You will create a piece of work with the artist based on the activity you choose.

[Regarding Activity Selection]
• You can choose one activity from the following options: bonsai (Kokedama moss ball), lacquerware, pottery, kintsugi, Japanese sweets making, or Marugame fan crafting. (For activities other than bonsai and pottery, you can take your creation home after the activity.)
• For pottery experiences, an additional firing fee of JPY 6,200 (tax included) will apply. Please select this option when booking. Shipping after firing is also available (please request it on-site).
• Regarding bonsai (Kokedama moss ball), due to plant quarantine regulations, we cannot ship or allow the creation to be taken abroad. Therefore, after the experience, the creations are donated to welfare or care facilities.

• Children who do not participate in the activity can accompany for free.
• If you arrive late without prior notice, your reservation will be canceled.

The activity may be canceled for safety reasons due to inclement weather, natural disasters, or other circumstances.
