Activity

Step back into the turbulent 20th century with a hands-on experience at Higashikura!

The Higashikura Gallery is housed in a former sake brewery built in 1922 by the Nishiwaki Sake Brewery, which was founded at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868)!

In addition to the experience, visitors can tour the former sake brewery!

At Higashikura, you can enjoy music and art, including paintings and photographs. It also displays sake brewing tools.

Try making sake manju buns with sake lees!

At Higashikura, try making sake manju, a sweet treat made with sake lees, in the former sake brewery. You can also sample sake manju buns topped with green powdered tea on the spot.

Experience the Japanese culture of origami!

While your sake manju steams, enjoy an origami experience and immerse yourself in traditional Japanese culture.

You can also enjoy a casual tea ceremony experience!
