Gandate Gorge is Japan’s largest lava flow cross-section, formed approximately 54,000 years ago from andesitic lava. This awe-inspiring lava cliff stands 72 meters tall and spans 120 meters wide. It is also designated as a Natural Monument of Gifu Prefecture.

Please arrive at the Gero Station bus stop by the departure time. Present the final itinerary that we will provide to you in advance to the bus driver to board the bus.
Take the local bus to the Osakacho bus stop
Please board the designated local bus and get off at the Osakacho bus stop. A guide for the Osakacho Waterfall Tour will be waiting at the bus stop. The guide will accompany you to Gandate Park, the starting point of the Osakacho Waterfall Tour.
Enjoy the Osakacho Waterfall Tour and a stroll through Gandate Park
A guide will accompany you to the Osakacho Waterfall (Mitsudaki Falls) (walking distance: approximately 1 km, walking time: about 50 minutes). Afterward, enjoy a walk through Gandate Gorge (approximately 70 minutes).
Take the local bus from Osakacho bus stop to return
At the designated time, the guide will escort you to the bus stop. Please return to the Gero area from Osakacho bus stop. Be careful not to board the wrong bus. (Please present your itinerary to board the bus.)
