Activity
Experience the thrill of Japan’s largest lava flow cross-section at the awe-inspiring Gandate Gorge!
Gandate Gorge is Japan’s largest lava flow cross-section, formed approximately 54,000 years ago from andesitic lava. This awe-inspiring lava cliff stands 72 meters tall and spans 120 meters wide. It is also designated as a Natural Monument of Gifu Prefecture.
We'll guide you to the three waterfalls in Gandate Park.
This tour takes you along the Mitsutaki walking trail and across the lava plateau, visiting three waterfalls: Mitsutaki, Akaganetoyo, and Karatani.
Mitsutaki, which falls in three stages (5m at the bottom, 11m in the middle, and 6m at the top), can be viewed safely via a well-maintained walking trail.

A guide will be waiting for you at the Osakacho bus stop. With their knowledge of the local area, they will carefully guide you through the attractions so you can relax and enjoy.

A guide will be waiting for you at the Kosaka-cho bus stop.
Departure from Osaka-machi Bus Stop
We will move to Gandate Park (the starting point for the Kosaka Waterfall tour).
We will visit the three waterfalls—Mitsutaki, Akaganetoyo, and Karatani—via the Mitsutaki walking trail and the lava plateau.
This guided tour will take you to secret spots that are only accessible with a guide. (Walking distance: approximately 5km)
Get off at Kosaka-machi bus stop.
At the designated time, the guide will escort you to the bus stop. Please return to the Gero area from Osakacho bus stop. Be careful not to board the wrong bus. (Please present your itinerary to board the bus.)
