Activity
Iwamura Castle Town is a local gem with well-preserved traditional streetscapes
The roughly 1.3-kilometer-long castle town preserves a historically and culturally rich streetscape, designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. It’s lined with Edo-period (1603-1868) houses that reflect the town’s former prosperity.
Take a stroll through the town in a cute retro kimono! No need to bring anything!
Take photos while blending into the atmosphere of the castle town, and snack on some local specialties such as castella cakes and gohei-mochi rice cakes.
Enjoy sake tasting at the renowned Iwamura Brewery, which boasts over 230 years of history
After a detailed explanation of sake brewing and the brewery's history by the president, you'll enjoy a tasting of four of their prized sake varieties.
Schedule
1:00pm: Arrival procedures
Head to the Sakamichi Club Women's Division (next to the Machinami Fureai no Yakata) and show the reservation page from your My Page upon arrival.
Kimono dressing (required time: 30 minutes per person; and about 60 minutes for two people)
You can choose your favorite kimono from a collection of cute retro styles worn during the Showa era (1926-1989).
Go for a walk (about 60 minutes)
Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the castle town, where the historic and cultural streetscape has been preserved.
Around 3:00pm: Visit Iwamura Brewery and enjoy a sake tasting experience with four types of sake (about 90 minutes)
Take a guided tour of the sake brewery with the president and enjoy tasting local sake.
The experience ends after returning the kimono
