A Segway tour with amazing lakeside views of Lake Ashi in Hakone

Stroll through scenic tourist spots that have long been known as sacred places

In addition to the stunning views of Lake Ashi, visitors can see plants and animals designated as Natural Treasures and also visit Kuzuryu Shrine.

When riding the Segway, your eye level is raised 20cm, bringing you a fresh new perspective!

The tour is safe for first-time Segway riders of all genders, ages, stamina, and athletic experience.

Within the first few minutes, you'll become accustomed to the Segway. Before you know it, you'll be able to relax and operate it intuitively.

Schedule

  • Meet-Up & Reception

  • Pre-orientation

    You will receive an explanation of the precautions, an overview of the tour, and tips on how to make the most of your tour.

  • Training

    The staff will slowly and carefully teach you the basic riding techniques to safely explore the course.

  • Start of tour

    Depart on the tour with a tour guide. Enjoy a guided talk about the local attractions and have fun riding a Segway.
    The tour guide will take pictures of you during your experience. All photo data can be downloaded for free.

  • End of Tour & Dismissal

    Return to the departure point to finish. After the experience, write a tour log in your logbook and take home memories of the tour.

Notes

There is no restroom in the reception cottage, so please make sure to use the restroom beforehand.

Please note that the dates are decided 1-2 months in advance.

[Conditions for participation]
1. Participants must be between 16-70 years old.
2. If minors are participating alone, a parental consent form must be completed in advance.
3. Each participant must weigh between 45kg-118kg. (including clothing and belongings)
4. Please cooperate with safe operation guidelines and follow the instructions of the tour guide.
5. Please check the following items and ensure that you are in good physical and mental health, without any impediments.
•Not under the influence of alcohol.
•Not pregnant
•No difficulty walking
•Ensure that there are no impairments that would hinder your ability to drive.
•Not accompanied by pets or infants
6. Hold a valid driver's license for regular automobiles or small special-purpose vehicles, such as motorcycles. For individuals from overseas, please have either a valid international driving permit or a foreign driver's license that allows driving in Japan (please remember to bring it with you to the activity)

[About the tour]
•The tour will be held even in light rain.
•The tour may be postponed or canceled at the discretion of the sponsoring company (Segway Japan, Ltd.) in the event of inclement weather, including rain, which may interfere with safe driving.
•The tour may be canceled at short notice due to equipment, guides, or other circumstances.
•If the decision to cancel is made in advance, the organizing company (Segway Japan, Ltd.) will contact you at least one day in advance and refund the fee or reschedule the event.
•The local guide will make the final decision on the day of the tour approximately 2 hours before the tour. If the tour is canceled, no cancellation fee will be charged.

[Regarding participation]
•Segways are single-seater vehicles.
•Helmets must be worn during the tour. (Helmets can be borrowed free of charge on the day of the tour).
•Please make sure to attend the training conducted by the organizer.
•If the guide determines that it is not possible to ensure safety on the day, we reserve the right to refuse boarding.
•Photography and videography during the ride are prohibited for safety reasons, except with prior permission.
•The orientation (overview and Segway riding instruction) will last approximately 30-60 minutes and the tour will last around 90 minutes.
•Depending on how the tour progresses, the end time may be extended by up to 30 minutes. Please plan your post-tour schedule well in advance.

[Clothing and items to bring in case of hot weather]
Make sure to take precautions against heatstroke and sunburn. (Wrap a cold towel or cold packs around your neck and stay hydrated)
Items to bring: Drinks, towels, cooling pack, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.

Be sure to bring warm, windproof clothing, heating pads, gloves, scarf, etc., as the temperature can drop considerably.
Items to bring: Windproof winter clothing, gloves, scarf, and heating pads (they provide warmth when applied to the abdomen and back).

Tomei Expressway: 1 hour and 5 minutes from Atsugi Interchange
From Odawara-Atsugi Road (Atsugi Interchange to Odawara-Nishi Interchange) via Hakone Shindo (Yamazaki Interchange to Ashinoko-Taikan Interchange): approx. 52 km
*The Odawara-Atsugi Road is a tolled road (normal toll for the above section: JPY 720).
*Hakone Shindo is a free motorway.
