Activity
A spectacular view of the seasonal beauty of icefalls
The icefall of Shichijo Otaki is a famous icefall of Lake Shikotsu at Japan's northernmost open-water lake near Sapporo. This is a guided trekking tour walking through the snow with a snowshoe. Would you like to enjoy the extraordinary view of the frozen icefalls that you can only see in this limited season?
Small group tour, very well attended!
Tours are conducted in small groups and each guest are well attended even if you are new to snowshoeing. Professional guides certified by the Japan Mountain Guides Association will provide guests with full support and lectures.
Snowshoeing equipment can be borrowed free of charge!
Equipment such as snowshoes and trekking poles can be borrowed free of charge.

Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception.
Go to the trailhead
After registration, the guide will take the guests on his/her vehicle to the trailhead. (80 min)
Preparation for entering the mountain
Short lecture and preparation before entering the mountain
Begin Snowshoeing
We will walk through snow-covered forest paths, with breaks in between. At the icefall, there will be time for photography. (180 min)
End of the tour
After descending, you will be taken to Sapporo Station. （80 mins)

The guide may not be held responsible for any accidents during the climb/trekking.
・People with health or physical conditions should refrain from taking part.
・Please wear comfortable clothing. Bring warm clothing if you have it. (Rental clothing is also sufficient to keep out the cold).
・Both receptionists and guides will be staffed by people with a basic level of everyday English conversation.
・If you would like us to pick you up, please provide the name of your accommodation in the additional information input. (within 1.5 km of Sapporo Station).
【About Cancellation】
・The event may be cancelled after the booking has been made due to inclement weather or other reasons. In such cases, WAmazing Play customer support will contact the emergency contact by email after 2pm two days prior to the event.
