Activity
Use seasonal flowers to experience the Japanese traditional art of "Kado" (flower arrangement)!
You won't be able to find the same variety of branches, leaves, and other floral materials in flower stores in other parts of Japan, allowing you to create one-of-a-kind creations in Kyoto.
You will create one ikebana flower arrangement. The floral supplies you used that day can be taken home.
You can take your ikebana home or place it in a glass at a hotel or ryokan to enjoy as a memory of your trip.
U-shaped Japanese style scissors and western style scissors are available
We offer Western-style scissors if you are uncomfortable using traditional U-shaped Japanese scissors or are afraid to let your child handle them.
Great location!
Nijo Castle is roughly a 3-minute walk away, and Karasuma-Oike Station is a 10-minute walk. You can practice Ikebana before or after touring neighboring tourist attractions like the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, and more.

Notes
The traditional Japanese art form known as ”Kado”, or flower arrangement, is well-known all over the globe.
Shiyunsan Chohoji Temple in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, also known as "Rokkakudo," is credited as the birthplace of Kado.
The term "Ikenobo" comes from the fact that the "bou" (monks) of Rokkakudo resided by an "ike"(pond).
"Ikenobo," the oldest floral arrangement school in Japan, got its name from this.
With the inclusion of numerous schools and Western-style arrangement methods, ikebana has become more diverse and appealing to both genders.
