Spring is in full bloom! Tour cherry blossom viewing areas in the height of Akigawa Valley's cherry blossom season.
The most beautiful of the four seasons in Japan's Satoyama is spring, and this cycling trip takes you through many ideal locations.
Cycling with easy-to-ride electric bicycles
Electric cycling is accessible to all people and makes going up the slopes simple. Cycle at a leisurely speed with frequent breaks to enjoy the scenery at beautiful locations.
Led by a knowledgeable guide, discover the natural attractions of Tokyo that you might not be aware of.
Scenery includes glimpses of rural Japanese life, houses and traditional villages, Satoyama and rice paddies that haven't changed in a century, and some of Tokyo's clearest streams and valleys. The route offers a lot of diversity.
Enjoy a locally produced and consumed lunch at the renowned restaurant, Togura Shiroyama Terrace, which was formerly a primary school!
You can choose from several menu items including river fish, curry, and tempura in this Japanese-style restaurant.
In the afternoon, you are free to explore the area by bicycle! Bicycles can be rented until 5:00 PM.
Additional guided tours are available for a fee in the afternoon for those who feel uncomfortable on their own or who would like to have a guide take them to the best cherry blossom viewing spots in the afternoon as well.
You can visit spots locally known as "flower villages" and experience a footbath at the popular hot spring Akigawa Valley Seoto no Yu.
Schedule
10:00AM Meet-up/Reception (Tokyo Ura-yama Base in front of Musashi Itsukaichi Station)
Please present your My Page reservation screen at reception. We will explain the itinerary and how to operate the bicycles. If you have any unneeded luggage, you can leave it at the store until you return.
10:20 AM Start cycling with electric bicycles! Guides will take you to the most beautiful budding and blooming spots in the Akigawa Valley.
Enjoy cycling through the colorful spring in the Akigawa Valley with cherry blossoms, azaleas, field mustard, and more.
12:30 PM Lunch at Tokura Shiroyama Terrace, a restaurant renovated from an abandoned school
This Japanese-style restaurant offers several menu items, including river fish, curry, and tempura.
1:30 PM Free time in the afternoon
Please feel free to explore the area by bicycle with the map, and return to the starting point by 5:00 PM.
1:30 PM Optional afternoon tour can be added for a more fulfilling day!
The full course includes a cafe overlooking the valley, a bike ride along back roads with few cars and a visit to a village locally known as "Flower Village," and a footbath at a hot spring.
