The temple is lined with Important Cultural Properties and was the setting for the Meiji Restoration, and is rich with history!
Toshunji Temple is also the site of the Meiji Restoration, with its gate and Kannondo Hall, both National Important Cultural Properties, as well as the grave of Inoue Kaoru, the headquarters of the Kiheitai (Irregular Militia), and the temporary residence of Mori Takachika.

Toshunji Temple, the family temple of Mori Motonari, played a significant role during the Meiji Restoration. It served as a garrison for the Kiheitai and a temporary residence for Mori Takachika. The temple's gate and Kannondo Hall have been designated as National Important Cultural Properties.
