Activity
Echizen Matsushima Aquarium is one of Fukui's representative aquariums
Approximately 350 species and 7,000 living creatures, mainly rare fish from the Sea of Japan. Penguins, otters, seals, and a wide variety of other creatures are on display.
Dolphin shows and penguin walks are held daily!
Every day, you can enjoy popular events, such as an entertaining dolphin show featuring two father-and-son bottlenose dolphins, and penguin walks where you can observe the penguins showcasing various behaviors right in front of you.
The glass-enclosed tanks allow visitors to experience the dream of floating on the surface of the sea!
In the Sango no Umi, which has a see-through floor, visitors can lie down on top of an aquarium where fish are swimming beneath.
The unique underwater tunnel is also very popular!
Penguins can be seen swimming up close in the Underwater Tunnel, which makes them appear like they are flying in the sky.

[Precautions]
- Children aged 0-2 years enter for free.
- While each exhibit facility is partially connected by a tent walkway, some areas are outdoors. Please consider bringing an umbrella in case of rain.
Plastic umbrellas, raincoats, and ponchos can be purchased for JPY 300 each on-site.
- Wheelchairs and baby carriages are available for complimentary rental. However, we suggest bringing your own, as the number of available units is limited.
- There are a total of nine nursing rooms across four locations, which also double as diaper-changing stations.
- All facilities are furnished with ramps and elevators. If you encounter any difficulties or require assistance, please don't hesitate to approach the nearest attendant.
- Coin-operated lockers, available at the ticket gate, come in two sizes (JPY 300 and JPY 500). In the event all lockers are occupied, or if you have bulky luggage, it can be securely stored at the office for JPY 500 (Payment is to be made on-site).
- Generally, you are permitted to take photographs of the aquarium tanks, but please be mindful that there are specific tanks where the use of flash is prohibited.
- Kindly be aware that pets are not permitted inside the aquarium. Guide dogs and service dogs, however, are allowed.
