Many people believe that ukiyo-e prints were mainly produced in Edo (present-day Tokyo), but the Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum showcases prints published in Osaka during the Edo period.
Features of Kamigata ukiyo-e prints
There are few paintings featuring beautiful women and landscapes; instead, the focus is on artworks portraying Kabuki actors in Dotonbori. These paintings stand out for not idealizing the actors; they portray them as they are.
