  • Day 1: Tour and activity at Bashofu Museum (about 3 hours) → Disband, end of day 1

    The tour will include a video of the Bashofu Museum, explanation of the process, a tour of the Bashofu fabric workshop, and a hands-on activity of Utoshi, Kuchiwari, Uhagi, the process of making thread from fibers stripped from the stalks of the Japanese banana tree (Itobasho).

  • Day 2: Meet at Bashofu Museum → Tour and activity at Bashofu Museum → Lunch (Lunch is not included, please prepare on your own)

    Participants will learn about Uumi, which is the process of winding two or three Karamushi (ramie) fibers around each other to produce a fist-sized ball and then connecting the threads.

  • Seven Waterfalls of Kijoka, Kijoka Village (not included in this activity. This is a reference route)

    If you wish, you can take a walk after lunch to explore the Seven Waterfalls of Kijoka and Kijoka Village. (about 1 hour)

  • Tour and activity at Bashofu Museum → End of the tour

    Visitors will get the opportunity to experience haori jacket weaving and learn about the exhibitions. After the activity, please visit the Roadside Station Ogimi Yanbaru Visitor Center to shop. (10 minutes by Car)

• Transportation, lodging, and meals are not included in the activity fee. Please make your own arrangements for accommodations and meals.
• During the tour of the workshop, Uhagi, and Karamushi (ramie) field activity, you may get dirty, and the juice of the Itobasho (Japanese banana tree) will not come off your clothes. Please wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
• Regarding the haori jacket activity, if foundation gets on the Bashofu fabric, it will take a long time to wash. Please wear light makeup.
• Photography may not be allowed in some locations or situations. We appreciate your cooperation.
• In the event of rain, the activities' details may be adjusted (for example, activity in the Itobasho field (Japanese banana field) may be replaced with activity in the roofed area).
• Due to the handling of knives, children under 10 years old are not allowed to participate.
