Activity

"The Kabuki," created by the 20th-century master choreographer Maurice Béjart, is based on Japanese Kabuki

This is a unique performance created based on the famous Kabuki play Kanadehon Chushingura (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers), incorporating elements of Japanese culture such as the spirit of "giri" (duty) that drives the Japanese to avenge their lord.

The Tokyo Ballet is the only company in the world allowed to perform "The Kabuki"

The Tokyo Ballet, which marked its 60th anniversary in August 2024, has performed over 770 shows internationally. Recognized as a "world-class ballet company born in Japan," it has earned acclaim both at home and abroad.

The Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is a prestigious hall dedicated to the cultural and artistic heritage of Japan

This is a cultural facility representing Japan, constructed as part of the 500th anniversary project of the opening of Tokyo, designed by Kunio Maekawa, who studied under Le Corbusier.

[WAmazing Play Original] Immerse yourself even deeper into the world of "The Kabuki" with a post-performance tea time accompanied by interpretive commentary

A staff member from The Tokyo Ballet will escort you to a café, Ueno Seiyoken, located within the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. Depending on your needs, we can provide an interpreter who speaks English, Chinese, or Korean. You can enjoy the performance even more by learning about the behind-the-scenes stories and having your questions answered after the show.
