Kabuki is a traditional Japanese performing art that originated in Kyoto in the early Edo period (early 17th century) as Kabuki dance.
"FIRST-TIME KABUKI" is a one-hour experience and commentary event designed for first-timers to Kabuki. The event culminates in a performance of a famous classic scene that is set on the Gojo Bridge, located near Kyoto Station.
Why not immerse yourself in the world of traditional theater, which has a history of over 400 years, in Kyoto, the birthplace of Kabuki?

Schedule

  • Reservation complete

    A text message (including a link to download the electronic voucher) will be sent to your registered email address after your reservation is completed.

  • On the day of boarding

    Please exchange your electronic voucher for a boarding ticket at the HARUKA e-ticket machine located next to the ticket gate of Kansai Airport Station (JR). Please present the electronic voucher when exchanging for the boarding ticket.

  • Train selection and ticketing

    Scan the QR code at the ticket vending machine. Please select your desired train. You can choose from trains departing in the next 5 minutes.

  • Entry and boarding

    Please take your ticket from the vending machine, enter through the ticket gate where a station attendant is present, and board the train.

  • Watch Kabuki at the Kyoto Theater

    Please present your electronic voucher at the entrance of Kyoto Theater and complete the check-in procedure 10 minutes before the performance begins. *Check-in and admission will start 30 minutes before the performance. The check-in deadline is 10 minutes before the performance starts. *Please refer to the Notes section for detailed check-in procedures and locations.

[Regarding Participation]
• You must be 12 years old and above when exchanging the voucher or purchasing the rail pass.
• Only those holding passports issued by governments other than Japan are eligible.
• Rail pass users must enter Japan as a "temporary visitor."
*Temporary visitor status is a residency designation under the Japanese Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
*If it is confirmed that you do not meet the eligibility criteria during the use of the ticket, additional charges may apply for unauthorized use. Customers are advised to verify their own residency status.
• Tickets for the Kyoto Theater performance "FIRST-TIME KABUKI" are for those 6 years old and above. Separate tickets must be purchased for children 6-11 years old. *Children 0-5 years old are not permitted.

[Important Notes Regarding Use]
• How to Use: After completing your reservation, two electronic vouchers (one for exchanging for a boarding pass and one for exchanging for a Kyoto Theater performance ticket) will be sent to your registered email address. Please present the electronic vouchers for ticket exchange when you visit each facility.
The electronic vouchers sent after your reservation is confirmed are valid only for the date selected at the time of purchase.
*For the Kyoto Theater performance "FIRST-TIME KABUKI," if the performance is sold out or canceled, you may use the vouchers on another date. (Validity period: September 6-17, 2024)


[Regarding the Use of the JR Haruka one-way ticket]
1. After completing your reservation, a text message (including a link to download the electronic voucher with a QR code) will be automatically sent to your registered email address.
2. Present the electronic voucher at the HARUKA e-ticket machine located next to the ticket gate of Kansai Airport Station to exchange it for a boarding ticket.
(1) Scan the QR code at the machine.
(2) Select a train. You can choose from trains departing within the next 5 minutes.
(3) Retrieve the boarding ticket from the machine and enter through the ticket gate with station staff.
3. If the HARUKA e-ticket machine is not working properly, please exchange your ticket at the JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or a green ticket vending machine marked with a passport symbol.
4. Ticket exchanges can be made from 5:30 AM on the day of travel until 5 minutes before the last train of the Kansai-Airport Express "HARUKA."
5. If the reserved seat car (Car 4) of your train is crowded, you may use the unreserved seats.
6. Refunds, changes to the date of use, and changes to the selected train are not permitted.
7. If you lose your ticket, it cannot be reissued. Please purchase a new ticket.
8. If your scheduled train is canceled before departure, please use another "Haruka" train or a non-reserved seat on the Kansai Airport Rapid Service.

[Regarding the Use of Tickets for the Kyoto Theater performance "FIRST-TIME KABUKI"]
1. After completing your reservation, a text message (including a link to download the electronic voucher with a QR code) will be automatically sent to your registered email address.
2. Please present your electronic voucher at the entrance of the Kyoto Theater at least 10 minutes before the performance starts. You will then be guided to your seat.
*Ticket Exchange Location: Entrance to Kyoto Theater inside Kyoto Station Building, Shiokoji-sagaru, Karasuma-dori, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto 600-8216
3. Check-in and admission will start 30 minutes before the performance. The check-in deadline is 10 minutes before the performance starts.
4. All seats are unreserved.
5. If the venue is fully booked or the performance is canceled, please choose another date. *There is no performance on September 11.
6. Performance Times:
