Activity

Create your one-of-a-kind charm, just for you!

The black Miharu-koma are crafted as charms for fertility, safe childbirth, and child-rearing, while the white Miharu-koma serves as a charm for a long and tranquil life. Select your horse’s color—black or white—and personalize it with your own unique design. You’ll take home a one-of-a-kind charm unlike any other in the world.

Deko Yashiki is the birthplace of the 300-year-old local toys, Miharu-koma and Miharu-hariko (papier-mâché dolls)!

The word "deko" is also written as "deku," meaning "doll." Deko Yashiki, now located in Koriyama City, was once part of the Miharu Domain during the Edo period (1603–1868), which is why the products are known as Miharu Folk Toys. Hikoji Mingei is the only company that has continued to make all Miharu-koma since the end of World War II. The experience takes place in a 400-year-old thatched-roof building. We hope you enjoy the unique charm of this historic workshop.

With detailed instructions in Traditional Chinese and English, the process is easy to follow

The instruction manuals, available in both English and Traditional Chinese, offer a comprehensive guide to the Miharu-koma painting experience and its history, providing an enjoyable experience for international visitors.
