Activity

A coaster-making experience using Ueda pongee.

Make two coasters (10cm x 12 cm) to take home with you.

A traditional craft with a long history. Enjoy the shine of silk and beautiful texture.

Ueda pongee has a long history dating back to the Edo period (1603-1868), and was designated as a traditional craft in 1975.

Choose the weft and weave your original coaster.

Easy weaving makes it fun even for beginners. The staff will help you make your coaster.

Schedule

Select the weft to weave the coaster
Choose your favorite color from several colors (one or two colors) Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception.
One by one, sit down at the special loom. Put in the weft of your choice and start weaving.
Our staff will support you with explanatory materials to help you with the weaving process. Using your feet, the weft is woven between the warp.
Finish the coaster!
Receive a "one-of-a-kind" coaster woven by you.
Take the coaster home with you.
