Activity

Access the Interim Storage Facility, located in the Difficult-to-Return Zone, where soil and waste produced by decontamination work in Fukushima Prefecture are safely and centrally managed and stored (the organizer will apply for permission on behalf of participants)

With radiation exposure levels properly monitored, participants will be granted authorized access to the Difficult-to-Return Zone adjacent to the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (the Interim Storage Facility). Visitors will observe on-site conditions that have remained largely untouched since March 11.

Facility staff will accompany you on a bus tour of the area, providing educational insights and learning opportunities

Departing from and returning to the Memorial Museum, this bus tour features accompaniment by facility staff and provides an on-site look at the impacts of the compound disaster, centering on the Interim Storage Facility in Okuma and Futaba.

See the remains of the compound disaster, preserved in their original state

As the area lies within the Difficult-to-Return Zone, participants will view facilities that have remained largely untouched since the disaster from inside the vehicle, with opportunities to disembark in some locations.

Observe the buildings of Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

From the observation deck installed on the grounds of the special nursing home Sunlight Okuma, visitors can see for themselves the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, located approximately one kilometer away.

Visit the Memorial Museum

This facility connects the records and memories of Fukushima Prefecture to the future, shaped by the unprecedented compound disaster triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station on March 11, 2011.
