  • Receive an explaination of Bushido and Urushi culture by an experienced guide with deep knowledge of Aizu

    Learn about the history of the Aizu samurai—the origin of Japanese Bushido—and Urushi culture from an experienced guide, deepening your understanding of the craft-making process.

  • Select the colors you will use on your wooden sword

    Consult with a specialized artisan to select colors for each part—the handle (tsuka), scabbard (saya), and handguard (tsuba)—from three options: red, black, and brown.

  • Assemble your Urushi-lacquered sword

    Assemble your sword under the artisan's careful guidance, experiencing first-hand the distinctive texture unique to Urushi lacquer.

  • Take your finished piece home

    Once finished, you can take home your handcrafted lacquered wooden sword the same day—an exclusive item not sold anywhere else.
