## What is the Kansai Area Pass ?

The Kansai Area Pass is a rail pass issued by JR WEST that can be used any number of times for 1 to 4 days. Travel in the Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Himeji, Wakayama, Tsuruga, Iga Ueno). Explore Kyoto with a one-day pass for the Kyoto Municipal Subway and Keihan Electric Railway at an amazing price.
With the aim of improving access from Osaka to Kyoto, and further reducing congestion in Kyoto, a new one-day pass for Hankyu Railway will be added to the Kansai Area Pass.

  * Bring the Hankyu Railway exchange ticket that comes with your ticket to the designated counter to exchange for a Hankyu Railway one-day pass.

#### Eligibility

* Available for purchase by non-Japanese passport holders.
  \*Not available for Japanese nationals (Including Japanese nationals resident overseas).
* Those entering Japan as a "Temporary Visitor".
* "Temporary Visitor" is a status of residence defined under Japanese immigration law.
* Individual customers are not allowed to purchase or exchange more than one of the same ticket for the same use period.

#### Related Information

* The rail pass is valid is for the pass holder only.
* Please bring your passport for identification for JR station staff when using the rail pass.
* Lost/stolen rail passes cannot be re-issued.
* Rail pass usage rules are stipulated by JR WEST Conditions of Carriage and Japanese Law.
* Rules regarding the use of vouchers are stated in the issuer's rules and contracts.
* If discrepances arise about Carriage Conditions between the foreign language and Japanese versions, Japanese shall take precedence.

The Kansai Area Pass gives you unlimited rides within the area shown on the map.

* The following trains can be used:
  * Reserved seats on Kansai-airport Express HARUKA
    \* For reserved seating, ensure you book your seats before boarding the train.
  * Special Rapid trains, Rapid trains, and Local trains on JR-West lines.
  * All lines on the Kyoto Municipal Subway (1-day pass, exchange needed at a specified counter).
  * All trains on the Kansai Electric Railway (1-day pass, exchange needed at a specified counter).
  * All trains on the Hankyu Railway (1-day pass, exchange needed at a specified counter).
* The pass is only valid on WEST JAPAN JR BUS route buses within the valid area. The pass cannot be used on expressway buses.
* These trains below cannot be used
  \*Both Reserved and Non-reserved seats on Express Trains excluding Kansai-airport Express HARUKA
  \*Paid seating services, such as A-seat, are available on Local, Rapid, and Special Rapid trains in the Kansai area.
  \*Bullet Train "SHINKANSEN"

## How to Receive the Pass

* You will receive a QR code after the purchase.
  * Please confirm on MYPAGE.
  * Please have your confirmation email ready to receive the rail pass.
* The ticket can be received at the following JR WEST stations.

* You will need the QR code and passport to receive the rail pass.
* Please scan the QR code and passport 1 person at a time.

#### Sales and Use

* Rail passes can be purchased throughut the year.
* Rail passes can be used for consecutive days.
* Rail passes are valid from 12:00AM

#### Reserving a Reserved Seat Ticket

* Reserved seat tickets can be reserved at a ticket vending machine or a station ticket office.

* For passes with unlimited seat reservations, seats must be reserved at the JR ticket office from the 7 th booking.

#### Train Accommodations

* ✔︎Kansai Area Pass can be used.
* ▲Additional separate tickets are required
* \- Kansai Area Pass cannot be used.
* \* When additional tickets are required, obtain the tickets at a JR-WEST station before boarding.

* \* 1 First Class (Green) Tickets and separate Express Tickets are required.
* \* 2 This pass can be used for reserved seating up to 2 times.
* \* 3 When using reserved seating, make sure to reserve seats in advance before boarding. Reserved seating cannot be reserved on the train. If the maximum number of reserved seating uses has been reached, or to use reserved seating after boarding the train, a non-discounted Limited Express reserved seating ticket must be purchased separately.
* \* 4 Separate First Class (Green) Tickets for Local Services are required.
* \* 5 Separate charges are required when using paid seating services (such as A-seat) on Local, Rapid, and Special Rapid trains in the Kansai area.

## Cancellation & Refund

### Before Receiving Pass

* The order is valid for 3 months. You cannot keep this rail pass for more than 3 months.
* If you have chosen to receive the rail pass later at the ticket machine, cancellation can be made after ordering.
* If 100 days have passed after the order without receiving the rail pass, your order will be canceled and the payment will be refunded later.

### After Receiving Pass

* To refund a Kansai Area Pass, the pass itself and the vouchers for the Kyoto City Subway, Keihan Railway, and Hankyu Railway (4 items in all) are required.
* Refunds: Can be made only where the rail pass is issued/exchanged.
* Refund Amount: Sales price minus the deduction. (Fee: 10% of the sales prices, minimum of JPY 220)
* If the rail pass has already been used/expired, it cannot be refunded.
* Refunds cannot be made due to non-availability of service, delays, etc.
