In 1999, 103 buildings (9 National Treasures and 94 Important Cultural Properties), including the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Futarasan Shrine, and Nikkosan Rinnoji Temple, located in the mountains of Nikko, and the "ruins (cultural landscape)" surrounding these buildings were registered as World Heritage Sites.
The "Nikko Pass World Heritage Area" allows visitors to see the many shrines, temples, and cultural properties that play an important role in the history of Nikko and Japan at a discount price with unlimited rides on the buses and trains within the designated area.
In addition, by presenting this pass, visitors can receive a wealth of discount privileges in the Nikko and Kinugawa areas.
Facilities such as the Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura and the Akechidaira Ropeway can also be used at a discount compared to the original price.
