Ishigaki Island, one of Japan's top three stargazing locations and the country's first International Dark Sky Place, is a great place to view the night sky. Can you find any shooting stars?
Get escorted by a stargazing guide!
A stargazing master will escort you. Using binoculars and other equipment, they will show you where the constellations are located and explain them to you.

By listening to the sound of the waves at night, when it is naturally peaceful, and avoiding the hours of smoke from the engines and emissions of the glass boats, you can have a sustainable experience with less of an impact on the environment.

The best place to view the starry night in Japan is in the Kabira Bay area of Ishigaki Island, where 84 of the 88 constellations can be seen. Have fun trying to locate different constellations!

Meet-up and reception at Island Station Kabira Garden

Brief explanation of constellations by a stargazing guide
We will use a sheet to briefly explain the constellations you will be looking at.
Head to Kabira Bay with the stargazing guide (5 min. walk)
After reception at Kabira Garden, we will move to Kabira Bay.
Enjoy excellent nighttime stargazing in Kabira Bay, which is peaceful and serene in contrast to the busy daytime.
A stargazing guide will select a site where you can set up a picnic blanket and have an excellent time stargazing.
End of activity and return to Kabira Garden
You will return to the meeting place.

This is a stargazing tour in Kabira Bay, so please take measures to protect yourself against the hot/cold weather according to the temperature of the day.

-Genearlly, you will walk to Kabira Bay in the absence of outside lights. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Please bring your own flashlight or smartphone with flashlight function.
-Please use the restroom before you come. In case of emergency, please use the public restroom near Kabira Park Teahouse.

-If the event is canceled due to weather or natural disasters on the day, the operator will contact the emergency contact by 5:00 PM on the day. Please be sure to check your e-mail and incoming calls on the day of the event.

-Point-and-Communicate tool, gestures, translation app
-We will use a translation app to guide the stargazing on the day of the tour, but we expect you to be able to speak Japanese to some extent. It may be difficult if you do not understand Japanese at all.
*We recommend that you have some understanding of Japanese.
-For instruction manuals, English and traditional Chinese characters are available.
