Understanding Koriyama, a town of fermentation culture

Established in 1906, Horaiya Honten Co., Ltd. will tell you about the power of the Koji, which the company have cultivated and maintained for more than a century.

Miso-making challenge

Participants can experience making their own miso and take home the finished product.

Fermented food tasting activity

Participants can taste and sample amazake (fermented Japanese rice drink) and miso.

Schedule

  • Reception

    Please present the My Page reservation screen at the reception desk.

  • Lecture on fermentation culture (about 40 minutes)

    You can enjoy listening to a talk about fermentation culture while tasting and sampling amazake and miso.

  • Miso-making workshop

    You will make your own miso. Once you are done with the making, you can take home the miso you made.
