Activity

Stroll around Kokeizan Eiho-ji Temple, a Zen Buddhist temple famous for its Zazen (meditation)

The mountain was named Mt. Kokei because it resembled the valleys in Lushan, China.
The garden is designated as a place of National Scenic Beauty, the Kannon Hall and Kaisando Hall are National Treasures, and in front of the main hall is a 700-year-old ginkgo tree, the city's Natural Monument, and a ceramic lantern with Shino and Oribe glaze.

Spectacular view of the dammed lake! The beautiful Ena Gorge in harmony with nature

Ena Gorge is a lake created by dam development.
With its emerald green surface and the red bridge, this is an ideal spot for taking pictures.

Visit Magome-juku, a historical post town

Magome-juku is a post town on the Nakasendo Highway where many people used to come and go during the Edo period (1603-1868).
It is also well known as the birthplace of Shimazaki Toson and the Toson Memorial Museum, which was once the former site of Magome-juku Honjin.

Strolling around Tsumago-juku, where the atmosphere of the Edo period (1603-1868) remains

Tsumago-juku was the first post town in Japan to be selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 1976.
The restored Tsumago-juku Honjin is a must-see spot!
Enjoy shopping for souvenirs such as traditional crafts from Nagiso Town.
