Activity

Enjoy the stunning beauty of the Shakotan Peninsula in the summer!

Travel by bus along the coastline on National Route 229! This route leads to Cape Kamui, at the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula. There will be a number of wild, oddly shaped rocks and towering cliffs that appear one after another.

Visit the famous scenic spots Shimamui Coast and Cape Kamui

The view from Shimamui Coast, selected as one of the 100 best beaches in Japan, is said to be the best on the Shakotan Peninsula.
The viewpoint overlooking the coastline is accessible via a 30-meter-long tunnel dug by hand in 1895 to transport herring.
Cape Kamui also has the legend of a tragic love affair with Yoshitsune, and was once a place where women were forbidden because of the stormy seas.
Today, a promenade has been built from the parking lot to the tip of the cape, and in early summer, visitors can see the Hemerocallis esculenta, which is in full bloom all around the area.

Enjoy lunch made with local ingredients

We offer a lunch made with plenty of local ingredients.

Glass-bottomed boat (underwater observation boat) experience!

In Bikuni, you can board a glass-bottomed boat (underwater observation boat). (Payment on site).
From the underwater observation boat, you can observe the cliffs of the Shakotan Peninsula, which is part of Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Kaigan Quasi-national Park, as well as the emerald green waters of Shakotan, Hokkaido's sole marine park.
If the conditions are right, you might see the various underwater environments through the window and fish and sea urchins swimming in front of you up close.
