The Koshinetsu region consists of Yamanashi, Nagano, and Niigata prefectures, and is surrounded by magnificent mountains such as the Central Alps and the Yatsugatake Mountains. There are many places where you can enjoy nature throughout the year, and mountain climbing, skiing and hot springs are popular. Niigata Prefecture is particularly famous for its rice and sake, and is blessed with rich agricultural produce. In addition, Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture is known as a summer resort, while Yamanashi Prefecture offers beautiful views of Mt. Fuji.
