Washigatake Ski Resort is one of 300 Famous Japanese Mountains which spreads across the foot of the mountain called Washigatake. This is one of popular ski resorts in the area which boasts of a wide trail. There are total of 13 courses in this resort. Each of their course has a unique characteristic from a wide open slope to a gentle forestry trail to keep you engaged. Many of their wide-open terrains prevent skiers from crashing into each other.

Fun Activities at Kids Park

Kids Park offers many fun activities for children including a snow sledge course and a practice area called “Pandaruman Boken Hiroba (adventure area)”. There is a plastic children’s playhouse, a snow mountain and snow slider in the area. Admission is free for children under age of 2 and their accompanying parents who have a valid lift ticket.

Large Ski Resort, Many Ways to Have Fun!

Washigatake Ski Resort operates for an extended period from beginning of November to beginning of April so you can ski into spring season. When it does not snow, they use snowmaking machines called “Ice Crusher System” to artificial snow to operate slopes.

There are 10 types of lift ticket at the resort including one day ticket and night skiing ticket which are standard type, plus 3 hour pass, 5 hour pass, half day + night skiing are also available to satisfy different need.

This resort came together with an adjacent facility called Whitopia Takasu making an easier access between the two resorts with a combined lift pass. Their large snow area also known as Washitopia provides 26 courses. The combined lift pass is a must buy! It will allow you to experience full-scale skiing.

Restaurant Rocky is the main restaurant on the resort serving many different dishes. Their patisserie’s specialty dessert is highly praised among the guests.
If you are craving for ramen even on a snow mountain, try Ganko Ramen Yokocho in Restaurant Eiger. You will be surprised of their quality.

Relax in the Hot Spring After the Ski.

Soaking yourself in a hot spring bath after all day skiing is so nice and relaxing! There is Tennen Washigatake Onsen on the first floor of the main lodge building located at the bottom of the resort. This facility is a direct access from the ski slope. The facility has an outdoor bath (called ‘rotenburo’), sauna and jacuzzi and is popular with families.

Wide-Open Trail!

Again, this resort is known for its wide-open trail but also has a long course for more advanced skiers. Everyone can find a way to have fun at this resort.

Although, as this resort is very popular, it may be crowded on some days. However, we still think it worth going there. If you go, make sure you purchase a combined lift pass that lets you access Whitepia Takasu so you can experience the full-scale skiing at Washitopia.
