This resort is in the northern part of Niigata Prefecture and is popular among skiers of all ages. We will be introducing you about trails and their features, services including lift tickets and hotels of our recommendation.

This resort has been around for a long time and yet is known to be less crowded. You won’t have to wait so long to get on the lifts. Being a high altitude resort, it provides lots of good snow.

Variety of courses for beginners

People come to Yuzawa Park Resort for its 11 courses accommodating all levels of skiers. It is a compact ski resort with the longest run at 980 meters in distance. Most courses are for beginner to intermediate skiers which are perfect for families.

There are advanced courses as well. Challenge Course and Sky Valley Course, which are at 31 degrees at the steepest point. If you are an advanced skier, you can try the aggressive skiing on those courses.

The resort also provides other snow activities such as Snowboard Park where you can try jumps and rails, Kids Park where children can go sledding and Nanchatte Park where beginners can try a ski cross course.

Lift ticket package

Lift ticket purchase can drive up your trip budget, but with a special package coupon offered through Yuzawa Park Resort official website, you can enjoy skiing reasonably.

This package includes one day lift pass, a lunch coupon and an admission to hot spring bath. The package comes in pair, group, or family type. You can purchase from one person but you get more discounts if you buy a group or a family type.

You can buy this coupon at a ticket counter in the ski resort or at the front desk of Yuzawa Park Hotel.

Many rental options

Skiing requires lots of gears. At Yuzawa Park Resort, you can come and rent everything you need to ski or snowboard upon arrival, so come stress or luggage-free.

Rental shops at Yuzawa Park Resort carry a wide range of sizes and accessories such as snow hats (beanies), gloves, goggles, etc., so you can travel light.

Ski school for beginners

Yuzawa Park Resort operates a ski school inside the ski resort providing lessons for ski and snowboard and kids programs.

Lessons are provided based on skier’s ability, so beginners can learn without feeling pressured. Private lessons may not be a bad idea if you are coming in a group or with your family.

Sledding at Kids Park

Kids Park is highly recommended for families. Children or anyone who does not ski or snowboard can have fun with a sled and other snow toys.

Kids Park is open between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Plastic sleds and snow tubes are available. No snow escalator available so you need to walk up the slope.

Kids Park is not so big so it would be difficult to entertain your kids all day in this park, but since it is free of admission it is worthwhile visiting.

Restaurant Crew, kick back and relax

If you want to eat in a relaxed environment, then this restaurant is for you. Restaurant Crew is in the annex building of Yuzawa Park Hotel. Walk-ins are welcome, so you do not have to be staying at the hotel to eat at this restaurant.

They serve mainly Western-influenced dishes in Japan such as hamburg steak which is like meatloaf and omelette with beef stew sauce. There are also other kind of food such as Japanese style fried chicken and ramen. Family-friendly with kids menu (only for children under age 6).

Cafeteria Sunny, a quick meal

As in its name, it is a casual styled cafeteria where you can order menu like curry rice and rice bowl dish. Most of their dishes come in a big portion. Open only Saturdays, Sundays and during the year-end/new year season, closed on weekdays.

How to Get Here

Great access from Tokyo either by car or public transportation.

By Car

Yuzawa Park Resort is near an expressway so driving should be no brainer, only 5 minutes from the nearest expressway exit. You will start your trip by getting on the Kanetsu Expressway from Nerima Interchange (IC) and get off at Yuzawa Interchange (IC). The whole trip is about 2 hours.

Yuzawa Park Resort has 4 parking spaces with capacity of 1,000 cars for free all day! They are open 24 hours so you can arrive in the middle of the night and start skiing from the morning.

By Train

You will get on the Joetsu Shinkansen (bullet train) and get off at Echigo Yuzawa Station. The bullet train ride is approximately 70 minutes. There is a free shuttle bus running between Echigo Yuzawa Station and Yuzawa Park Hotel.

Free shuttle bus is available during the ski season. Reservation must be made in advance at least by the day before you plan to use the service. It takes approximately 10 minutes from Echigo Yuzawa Station, East Exit to Yuzawa Park Hotel.

Yuzawa Park Hotel, a step away from the resort

With a ski slope right in front of the hotel and advance shipping of baggage available, this hotel can be be a convenient ski base for you at Yuzawa Park Resort.

The hotel has Western type rooms, traditional Japanese type rooms with tatami mats and Western-Japanese type rooms with Western-style beds and a tatami space. There is a big public bath in the building which has natural hot spring where you can soak yourself to eliminate fatigue from skiing all day.

Pension La France, a reasonably priced accommodation.

If you want to save on your accommodation cost, there is “Pension La France” which is a 3 minute drive from Yuzawa Park Resort. Their room rate starts from 3,500 JPY.

This pension has a free pickup/drop-off service to the ski resort and rental equipment. They let their guests use their big hall even before the check-in.

Rooms and their public bath are clean. The meals and the services are great. A great value for the price!

Yuzawa Park Resort has lots of facilities and ski courses and is an ideal destination for beginners where they can feel secure skiing. Because this resort is not widely known, the wait time for the lift is not long leaving you nothing more than to just have fun skiing or snowboarding!
