An introduction to some recommended photography spots of Inawashiro Ski Resort’s expansive scenery!

April 08, 2021
Inawashiro Snow Resort, a location with a reputation for providing the opportunity to take the best pictures with snowy mountains in the background, has one of the best, expansive scenic views among snow resorts in Japan. This time, we went out ourselves on-site and took pictures, so with our first-hand knowledge, we’d like to introduce to you our recommended photo-op spots. As there are many beginner courses, it shouldn’t be much of a problem to get some snaps in. For those skiers who also like taking pictures, why not try to take the ultimate picture at the Inawashiro Ski Resort?

First, head directly for the Gondola Lift Summit!

Near the Inawashiro Resort gondola lift
The Inawashiro Ski Resort has gondola lifts that quickly and directly go straight to the summit, so beginners and families with small children can safely head for the summit. There are plenty of beginner courses near the summit, so you can enjoy getting some skiing in between your photography sessions. The courses aren’t typically jammed with people, which allows for fun and safe skiing.

Excellent location overlooking Lake Inawashiro

View after getting off the gondola lift
The scenery that opens up as you get off the gondola lift is breathtaking. Lake Inawashiro spreads out before you like a vast ocean. On sunny days, the sun is reflected on the water and the lake glimmers, giving you the opportunity to take absolutely gorgeous photos.

Since the majority of the slopes face south, you'll love being able to take bright pictures bathed in constant sunlight!

Shortly after beginning the course, take a look back!

Looking back from the course
When you begin skiing on the slope, you can’t help but notice the lake in front of you. However, try taking a look behind you! You’ll be able to get a full look at the magnificent Mt. Bandai, boasting a height of 1,819 meters. In this unique terrain where the slope is located between two valleys, you can take a picture that looks like you're skiing right under Mt. Bandai.

Most slopes are gentle and spacious

Gentle slopes with an exhilarating, expansive view
The main course is exceptionally wide and will surely give you an exhilarating feeling as you ski down! With the expansive view of Lake Inawashiro before you, it’s one of the prime locations of the resort. The spaciousness will have you wanting to show off some cool ski moves.

The Lake View Course, which you can ski down from the gondola lift, has an average incline of 13 degrees, making it perfect for beginners. If you ski on this beautifully compacted snow, you may find yourself improving before you know it!

Ski slowly on the Forest Course at the bottom of the slope

Forest Course
It’s fun to ski on a gentle slope, but you’ll be missing out if you don’t ski on Inawashiro Ski Resort’s one and only, the Forest Course! Skiing down a course surrounded by trees gives you a refreshing feeling you won’t get anywhere else. It will create a natural and dynamic feeling in the photographs.

A snow resort we particularly recommend for those who want to photograph incredible scenery

That about wraps it up for recommended photo-op spots at Inawashiro Ski Resort!

This is a location where you can casually enjoy the incredible scenery from the gondola lift summit. Even beginners can comfortably enjoy taking pictures on the Forest Course. With its light foot traffic, gentle slopes for pleasant skiing, and countless other unique features, this ski resort is a hidden gem in the Aizu Area.

See if you can take a wonderful photo this winter at Inawashiro Ski Resort!
